Hey, I liked it!

An excellent game, that is for sure. Unquestionable brilliance, though it did get a tad bit repetative and perhaps a trifle boring after a while. I reached levek 62 on Easy before I just gave up- it wasn't really worth the time now that I had experienced the game to the full. Perhaps a bit more variety to the bombers, and the upgrades increasing with each level (eg. able to increase fire rate with every passing level). Nonetheless, once I set up my mobile flak units (I think that's their name) and upgraded everything to the max I didn't even have to watch the game for about 15 minutes. They just annhialiated everything that came into their LOS. After that though, it got a little too pointless.

I apologise for the sound- my speakers aren't working, so it wouldn't do justice to give you a rating for them. Nonetheless, an excellent game that I thoroughly enjoyed playing- for the first half anyway. Not bad at all!

***STRATEGY***
Load yourselves with mobile flak cannons, or whatever they be, and nothing else. They're the only things worth the money. Once you have two of them, boost your starting HP to the max, slowly building your army. Once they dominate the sky, raise their recharge time so they basically become machine guns, then their power, then anything you see fit to raising.

Hm.. Not bad.

Whilst it was something of an original game, it lacked a lot of the elements required for a first person shooter. For example, enemies that didn't appear mostly outside the screen making them difficult to acknowledge let alone shoot, or being able to shoot an enemy while it's still rolling from out of its hiding place. It was rather tiresome to wait for them to get into position before you could kill them- they would often get a round of two in at you first while you waited. A choice in weapon would have also given the game a lot more to appreciate.

Still, still. You did rather well, albeit it was rather repetative, and the mouse disappeared at the GAME OVER screen. Rather had to replay when you can't click the button. Nevertheless, few tweaks here and there and you've got yourself a quality game. Meanwhile, a very decent effort. Nicely done.

Hm...

I found the idea very entertaining, albeit very simple too. Nothing wrong with that though- just means it's less complicated and easier to play! It did get a little repetative after a while, so I just stopped playing. It was a very witty creation though- such genius for a game is rare, but you've done well! I don't quite see the whole 'virus' thing in the title, but it was smiffy (that means good!) nonetheless.

The sound was also a little bit overbearing, but otherwise a very comfortable game. Nicely done!

GameBalance responds:

It's easy at beginig. But when you trying to make combos it's not easy even at beginig.
It's hi-score game, you know.
Ok. thanks!

Neat!

Such a simple concept, yet so incredibly challenging and brilliant nonetheless. An element of addictiveness too, for I kept struggling to rise above level 5! Pathetic, isn't it. It just gets pretty hard when you've got 5 guys rush in at once, all popping medium-large bullets at you. Then again, I've never really been good at side scroll shooters, so it's probably just me.

Nonetheless, I thought the graphics were awesome, and that the guy you were controlling looked incredibly cool. A story might have given it a little more though, but I like it nonetheless! Very well done.

GameBalance responds:

Hey, thanks!

A smiffy little game.

Quite enjoyable to play really. Not a whole lot to it, but definitely an element of intensity and concentration involved. It was addictive in its own sense, and I had to play it three times to pass! Eventually you just get so good your tower becomes invincible, but until that point you need to focus more on what skills to boost. I did like the idea though!

There's not much I can say that hasn't been said already;
Different spells, different looking dragons as the levels progress, possibly a boss or variety in backgrounds etc. The game got rather repetative so I zoned out, just mindless clicking after playing too long lol. I did get a rather frustrated laugh out of the cheats section too!

Maybe a change in level and background as the wizard progresses to get away from the nest, instead of just saying 'he bolted for his life and got on top of a tower to defend himself' sort of scenario. Makes the game more captivating, you know?

Graphics and sound were pretty snazzy- I did like the way the screen moved with you in particular, but you'd be surprised how much more satisfying a crosshair is over a plain cursor. I do, however, disprove of you dissing wizards. Sorcerors are generally the evil ones, wizards are more associated with 'light' magic.

For those of you prowling reviews to find the cheats, I have to say this; I don't normally give people the easy way out, but even with the cheats the game doesn't become that much more interesting, nor too much easier. Just easy enough to pass without strife. Anyways, go to Settings and click on the top right hand corner- there's an invisible button you can activate. Try playing the game now.

I hope you take some thought with what I and others have said and produce a sequel soon!

Ah!

Unfortunately addictive! I liked the style very very much- simple but most capitivating, and very entertaining! The graphics were great as far as an arcade style game goes, the sound effects weren't annoying but nor were they perfect. They did get a little tiresome after a while, and I if there was music, I either didn't know how to turn it on, or otherwise couldn't hear it! Nonetheless, all for the better, what with the laser beams flying everywhere.

I thought the choice of cross hairs was original, and enemies that actually attacked back on a more complicated level. Different choice of weapons was also a major bonus, but I'm not sure how much better missiles and tornadoes are to the cannon- it's just not as fast, but I suppose they're supposed to be balanced so whilst the energy recharges you still have something to shoot with.

Once you really get into it, you realise there's a lot of skill involved! I only got a total of about 27000 points and unlocked three cheats, but for those out there searching reviews for them, you'll just have to find them yourself! Play for a while (not a problem- it's hard to stop!) and you'll get the hang of it after about two full length games.

At any rate, a fantastic tribute to Asteroids- you've certainly given the original creator a run for his money! If this was nearly as widely known, you'd be infamous by now. Excellent work!

Nemo responds:

Wow. This is a really good review. I appreciate how you went extremely in depth. There was music, but I think i made it too quiet. I'm really glad you liked it and found it entertaining. Thanks for taking th time to review! It's a big help for anything I plan on doing in the future.

Hm...

Well, I can't say very much happened at all. I had enjoyed the storyline, even up until the dragon's demise, but it did seem rather pointless didn't it?

The graphics weren't all that special, but I did particularly appreciate the music and sound effects. Absolutely beautiful- I could listen to it forever. It truly is inspiring, so very well done with that!

Nonetheless, a little more of a plot and depth to the story would have made it just about perfect. I thought the dragon was pretty spiffy, though it did take an exuberant amount of time to slay. Only two ways to really defeat it; know where it's going to appear in advance (thank goodness it wasn't random) and blast it as soon as it shows it's face, or have god-like reflexes. Alas, I resorted to the former.

Out of curiousity, why *did* he get that book?

~VelvetDarkRocks~

Hey!

Not a bad little game. Certainly took my mind off things for a while. Entertaining to say the least, in its own basic way, but a generally overused idea that you somehow managed to rekindle with this game. Nothing really special, but the new enemies was quite an enjoyable difference. The story wasn't all that bad, reminding me of Halo 1. I don't think it really matters, but the graphics could have improved just a teensy bit. I did, however, like the way the stick actually looked like he was aiming backwards. It was pretty fun jumping around, but some ground enemies would have added a whole new dimension to the game. I'm sure newgrounds awaits a sequel eagerly- I certainly do!

~VelvetDarkRocks~

Ah, found it.

Don't you just hate it when you spend such a long time writing a lovely and detailed review and suddenly your computer crashes? I was up to stage 25, too. A password system would have been really helpful in that event, but I'm sorry to say there's not much of a chance I'm going to play it for another hour to see the ending.

The game itself wasn't that slow, it just took a little too long to take down certain enemies. With the Frying Pan of Doom, it was powerful, aye, but too slow to use without getting half your health drained. Then again, I haven't really played it to the point where I mastered the timing, but it's really not much of a weapon. The sword and dagger were strong in their own respects, but useless against any mild enemy. I found the best weapon was easily the staff- medium distance, decent damage and fast attacking speed. Some of the enemies you put in there were really just impossible to kill in a close-quaters fight. All the orcs I encountered had to be taken down with the bow (and 30 arrows, gosh) because their spear completely skewered me before I could reach them. Tin Wasps are an example of enemies in a stage way too early for their purposes- near impossible to kill from long distance and too powerful in short distance. Avoiding it and attacking with the staff seemed the only way to come out reasonably unscathed.

Nonetheless, the music wasn't all that bad, but the sound effects could have been fancied up a bit. It's the sort of music you can listen to forever, but not necessarily fall in love with. The graphics were decent, but because of the quality of the game, it would not do justice to demur. Perhaps a storyline would have given the game more depth, instead of just a Hobbit off on his mission to kill things. I also think the idea of a limited number of arrows and a store between each level might have been an idea. Quite a multi-skilled little fella isn't he?

Well, that's all from me. Thanks for reading!

~VelvetDarkRocks~

Hm...

I actually thought it was a pretty snazzy ending, though a little more drama wouldn't have gone astray. Some music would have made it a quality game, but so far there are just a few little things (all mentioned in the previous reviews I've read) that you need to tweak. Nothing really new to contribute, but I think you've done a bang up job of making this game. I'm sure Newgrounds is eagerly awaiting a sequel! I especially liked the preloader, though.
