Highly addictive and yet very slow paced.

I played this game for hours- I'm not sure how many. I guess it's my fault for putting it to the easiest mode (and I forgot about the difficulty slider until I started writing this review), but I found it insanely easy. My hero could slay an entire army of.. what did you call them? That was good nomenclature by the way, creative storyline and all.

I really think destroying the enemy castle should give you either stacks of gold or some kind of reward, because I toiled to destroy their castle but alas, to no avail! Maybe you could even pass the level once their castle was reduced to rubble- that would have been worh the struggle.

The music got pretty repetative pretty fast. Although it was good long-term music, it wasn't very exciting and didn't add a lot to the game. Upgrades were expensive, but fair, and there was a very grateful choice between building an army or being a one-man conqueror. I would have of course chosen the latter, seeing as all my army did was get in the way of my arrows. I think it would have been much better to power up both armies so they deal more damage. That would also make fortresses fall faster, which would have been appreciated too.

The dying sounds weren't the greatest, but fair enough. The characters were a little too tiny to appreciate, or recognise for that matter. Also, the voice acting during the intro was actually quite good, although slightly humorous because it's difficult to have a serious voice for the medieval narrator. Nice work with that, though.

There was a lot of variation to the game- profiles, attack style, possible upgrades etc. That was great to see- hugely expansive, but ultimately, there wasn't a lot to do. Just kill the enemy army as your own army crawled forward to capture their flag. Nevertheless, a very well made game with many hours of play, although admittedly it doesn't really go anywhere. I think the best thing you could do to this game is add a password system instead of the save system currently in place. In particular, a specific password could unlock all the upgrades, either by having them as initial skills, or providing enough gold to buy them all. That would probably make the game more enjoyable in my opinion.

Not a bad game.

Not a great game, either though. The pros were basically, excellent movement, ability to change weapons, ability to kill. Cons were.. Well, I'll list them.

-Overheated weapons too quickly, making the sword the best choice.
-Recharge time too long. Again, the sword was the most powerful for this reason. Naturally this is heavily dependent on what weapon you're using and what items you're picking up, and players are encouraged to use the sword because the weapons are initially too weak.
-Very difficult to tell if you successfully deflected a bullet.
-No definite "You picked up the bazooka!" icon.
-I kept clicking out of the screen, although there's not really a lot that can be done for that.

Good work on the filesize, and perhaps a better choice of music for this sort of game. Still, not too bad, and I'm sure this would be king if I had enough time to play it and power up all the weapons fully. Nice work on the levelling up, although a definite level system would have improved it in my opinion, because non-stop slaughtering is a little too taxing without any rests inbetween.

A very creative game!

I cannot believe so many people would just ignore something like this. 63 reviews! Pah! Don't worry. *I* appreciate your brilliance.

It took me a little while to get a hang of, what with all the combinations possible and how to make long chains. Music was needed, but I had to concentrate pretty hard to get the right sort of combos, so that's bonus points in term of difficulty.

However, the game wasn't doing much except resetting itself and varying the number of certain colours needed. It lacked change, so I stopped playing after Level 8. However, I liked it very much and felt as if more viruses or some greater challenge could come alone, and that the game was progressive. Maybe the more experiments you completed, the longer your chains could reach, or something along those lines. Nevertheless, very well thought out with much needed strategy for certain combinations. All in all, very entertaining and very well done.

Decent game!

Variety of weapons, objects, floors, opponent skill levels, the works. this would make an awesome SNES game or something similar, but this got pretty repetative pretty fast. Nevertheless, great idea, great gameplay, awesome graphics.. Better soundtrack probably needed, but otherwise, top stuff!

Fantastic!

That was a frightfully incredible intro! Huge fan of the atmosphere and style for that one, so that gives you a 9 by itself.

I can't believe anyone would think this game is bad. It's incredible! The number of clothes is sensational, and although I've never seen/played Hellsing, they're all so AWESOME!

The music did get a little tiresome, but the ability to change it was much appreciated! The backgrounds also changed the atmosphere entirely!

Although some of the possible costumes were downright bizarre, that was cool! All that lacked was a "Randomise" feature that would randomly create a costume, including the whacky kilts and things you could stick in there. It must have been really fun designing all those clothes!

A highly appreciated lack of nudity. Most people only appreciate dress-up games so they can undress people. This on the other hand is the perfect example of a quality game. Highly enjoyable, incredibly expansive, and all in all amongst the best dress-ups I've ever played.

And shooting that ghoul gave me an unreasonable amount of pleasure! Some combination of the costume, the sound, the gun, the bullet shell... Oh man, I could shoot that thing forever!

Mm...

I knew from the instructions alone that this game would be limited. Only two attacks = repetative. The game itself was hardly a challenge whatsoever- you just needed to time all of your highly repetative attacks. I also found it highly racist and political, which aren't necessary to make a good game. Although I can appreciate your humour, it just insulted too many people for my liking.

All in all, not bad, but not really entertaining, and hardly enjoyable.

Nicely done!

Not a bad idea for a game. Although I could have changed the diction a little, it's a pretty cool idea. I'm not sure how one dragon can continue the species, unless dragons are asexual =p

Interesting game, and very much appreciated save function. The limited supply of ammunition, that is, a very innovative resource collection system, was genius. It restricted the game in a number of ways that challenges the player to attack strategic targets. It's sort of a military-style game, which is ironic because the military (for some reason) are out to get the last remaining dragon.

The sound effects, and especially music, got tiring over a long period of time, but overall a clever little game that takes a while to fully master. Didn't have time to play all of it because it's indeed a very long game to pass, but I did enjoy the first few stages. Excellent work on such a simple and yet challenging game.

A good game with lots of room for improvement.

Pros:
- Everyone loves a zombie game.
- Similar to Dawn of the Dead.
- Not a bad layout.
- Fair music.
- Nice ranking system. That's what drew me back to play on.

Improvements:
- In need of a replay button.
- Stagnant. Ie, not a lot happening. Just zombies approaching, you click them.
- No real story, but it's a zombie game; who needs one?
- The reload needed to be much clearer.
- An ammo limit would be a good idea, or at least, a different reload time for each weapon. It would also be good if you could scroll through weapons you've already bought.

Other:
- If Jacob wants you to kill the zombies, why doesn't he give you the guns for free? =)
- Great idea with the night/day, but the transition could have been just a little smoother. You did a great job though!
- Sound effects got just a little tiresome.

Good job though! 7.5/10.

GrimStudios responds:

You made some valid points, I admit, but a few things. ;D

-Jacob doesn't just give you guns because he's a greedy bastard and doesn't need you anyway (he has all the guns, so it doesn't matter if they come after him, see.)

I guess that's all. xD

Thanks for playing ;O

Great game!

Really creative style that allows for both military strategy on the battlefield, and in the warzone. Although lacking a plot, the idea itself is a great one, but a password system for the different levels, or even a level select would be grately appreciated. It's a long game, and not a lot of people have the time to finish it in one sitting.

Cool menu and creative idea with the zooming. However, hotkeys are desperately needed. Like "R" is retreat, rather than having to click it. I wish I had more time to explore some of the other features of this game, but it was a little repetative, but very fun. It felt like controlling Racoon City's STARS steam. Loved it! Really cool how you could watch the zombies swagger and bleed before falling, too. Great animation with that, and excellent character designs! All in all, a very neat, wall rounded game.

~VelvetDarkRocks~

Excellent!

I could tell from the start, even the preloader, that your animation skills had improved since the first. Shading, texture, shadowing, even colouring has been boosted. I mean, Dialla's gorgeous, seriously.

Voice acting, once again, is spectacular. God I love her voice. She was characterised fantastically.

Although the survival element was removed from the first part of the game, it still held all the challenges of -TRAPPED-. Perhaps a little too challenging though- like repeatedly clicking certain sections of the wall to break through it? I felt as if you could have made it more obvious what to do, because I used the guide and it robbed me of the satisfaction of completing it myself.

Question. How did Mickey get through the bars that Dialla had to use the blowtorch on? ;) I'm not sure why fish eat peeled bananas, either, when she could have shot it just as easily. And why wouldn't Mickey call for backup when he's discovered a base of operations of a crime gang? It also bothered me (just a little) how you could use the knife on the banana-rope but not the banana-rope on the knife! That threw me off for a while. Still... A highly interractive environment that was very, very broad in terms of items combinations and where they could be used for success. An enjoyable game, slightly less logical than its predecessor, but well animated.

Once again, I must say I'm in love with Dialla, and I'm very glad she didn't die in the first. However, her panting was hugely exaggerated because you made her neck move as well! And the lip movements at Mickey's scene were, well... They ruined the ambience I'm afraid, and the animation was just a little sub par compared to the rest of the movie, but you still draw fantastically. Nevertheless, she looked fantastic with that streak of blood.

What can I really say? I wished the credits appeared on screen longer so I could have gotten the name of the voice actors the first time round. I actually played the whole game again so I could take a screenshot and save it. Anyway, my gratitude and compliments to Edywn Tiong for the smoothest voice I've ever heard and Kira Buckland for sounding adorable. I think I'm infatuated. Anyway, excellent music, too. My compliments to David Orr.

And, because this is the only medium I have for "Escape", here's my review for the trailer!

I noticed Dialla's left-handed!!! Bonus points. I saw hints of a mano il mano fight, which I must admit isn't quite the style of a point and click game but will be very interesting nevertheless. Once again, incredible voice acting and animation, although her gun was a little underdone this time round. He's a gentleman, Dan, isn't he? So charismatic, he's actually quite inspiring.

What I wouldn't give to watch a full length movie about all this...

Loved it entirely. I anticipate Escape very much, and the prequel to be released in just two weeks! Hoorah!
